Montgomery Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is supporting the Oswego Library District’s proposed referendum to remodel the existing library building in downtown Oswego and to construct a new building in Montgomery. We hope you will too.
We believe that a library benefits everyone in a community: Young and old, rich and poor, men and women, boys and girls.
And the community benefits too. A library draws and retains residents and businesses. It provides new technologies. It fosters stronger literacy and self-education.
The library presently offers seminars, DVD rental, computer use onsite, a small conference room, story-time for children, teaching support, book talks and youth activity programs, book check-out…all on a limited basis. These need to be expanded because our district has grown. There are many new venues that need to be added for youth and adult needs that the present space cannot handle.
The MEDC applauds the Village of Montgomery for donating land that a new library could be built on. This is a great start! We hope to see a continued spirit of everyone working together on this project.
We ask you to please vote YES to the Oswego Public Library District Referendum on March 21. Thank you.
