Village Officials in Montgomery will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Village Hall on Monday, April 9, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. The new Village Hall site is located at 200 N. River Street, across from the VFW. Elected officials, Village staff and representatives from the architectural, engineering and construction firms will participate. Members of the public are invited to attend.
The new Village Hall will be approximately 23,000 square feet and will provide a Board Room where the Village Board will hold their public meetings and office space for Village staff. It will also include a Community Room and a Multi-Purpose Room connected to and outdoor plaza for community events. The building was designed by the architectural firm of Nagle Hartray Danker Kagan McKay Penney of Chicago.
The Village Hall site will feature various trees and plants as well as a water feature on the north side of the building. A path will lead around the settler's cottage that is being preserved on the site adjoining the public plaza. Benches and bike racks will be incorporated to help make it a beautiful and useful public gathering space for residents..
Construction will begin in May. Once completed, the building will be open for public tours and should be ready for occupation by August 2008. |
