MONTGOMERY -The Montgomery Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) held the first MEDC Annual Dinner on April 20, 2005 at Jason's Steakhouse. Approximately 50 members and guest were in attendance. The attendees included elected officials, Village staff and MEDC members.
The program included a MEDC Annual Report presented by the MEDC Executive Director, Teresa Nortillo. The report outlined economic development activities in 2004 and future economic development scheduled for 2005 in the Village of Montgomery. Nortillo stated, “The economic development activity that occurred in 2004, resulted in over 500,000 square feet of new industrial and commercial space, $27 million dollars invested and 394 jobs created in the Village of Montgomery. With the development that has been planned for over the next two years, over 880,000 square feet of commercial and industrial space will be created, over $57 millions dollars will be invested and well over 300 new jobs will be created. “
The Keynote speaker, Kim Maisch, State Director of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, presented an overview of key State business legislation that has been proposed and passed in Springfield along with an overview of economic and business conditions in the State of Illinois, which focused on business attraction and retention activities in the last 3 years. Ms. Maisch commented that it was encouraging to see the positive job growth in Montgomery because overall job growth in the State of Illinois was negative.
MEDC Executive Director, Teresa Nortillo stated, “The event was very well attended and the Keynote Speaker was very informative. We were very pleased with the entire evening.”
The MEDC has 11 Executive Board Members and 33 Associate Members. The event was for all MEDC members and their invited guests. |
