June 27, 2005
For Immediate Release

MONTGOMERY - The Montgomery Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced today that Teresa A. Nortillo will be leaving her position as Executive Director effective August 12, 2005.

Nortillo was hired in April of 2004 and is credited for opening the first MEDC office and developing pro-active business retention and attraction practices that have proven successful in bringing over 700 new jobs to the Village of Montgomery.

Over the last year, Nortillo assisted the Village of Montgomery in bringing Neumann Distribution Center to the Village, which is estimated to create over 211 new jobs. Nortillo also assisted the Village in crafting a $9.2 million sales tax incentive agreement with Inland Development for public improvements at the Ogden Hill retail center at Route 34, Route 30 and Hill Avenue. Most recently, Nortillo assisted the Village in working with McVickers Development to secure a Wal-Mart Supercenter for the Orchard Crossings retail center; the first big box retailer in Montgomery. The combined job creation for Ogden Hill and Orchard Crossings retail developments is expected to exceed 500.

Nortillo stated, “I am very proud of the accomplishments that have been made over the last year. It has been very rewarding working with the Village and the MEDC Board. However, I have chosen to return to my economic development consulting practice in order to concentrate on labor market and workforce issues, and to spend more time with my family. I have every assurance that the MEDC will continue to flourish and capitalize on the work that has been done thus far. The MEDC Board is excellent and has a lot of talent and leadership, which I know will be used to maximize the potential of the MEDC. I have offered to continue working for the MEDC, as needed, until a replacement is found in order to ensure a smooth transition of projects and procedures. “
