They also included 4.5 million small businesses, a number that rose by 7 percent between 2000 and 2005. MEDC received the following email addressed from the IRS: "After the last annual calculation of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $93.82. Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 2-4 days in order to process it. A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example, invalid records or applying after the deadline. The good news is that IRS will make this refund directly to your visa and/or mastercard linked to your checking/savings account instead of a check or a direct deposit."

MEDC checked with the IRS website (the real one) and received the following:

US Manufacturing Should See Improvements for Rest of 2007
Export orders and research and development will reach record levels according to Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI. According to the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI Survey on the Business Outlook, its June 2007 composite index of 65 is up from 58 reported in March. This means that US manufacturing will see a better second half this year. "The manufacturing sector is reawakening after experiencing a slowdown from the solid growth of production from 2004 through most of 2006," said Donald A. Norman, Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI economist. "This quarter's survey results paint a consistent picture of increased production in the latter half of 2007"
